Because We Make Is Different For A Reason

You may have noticed that the podcast I started about a month ago is still around. That by itself is a miracle, considering most podcasts don't make it past their third episode. I wanted to take a minute, though, to spell out what Because We Make is all about, why I'm doing it, and what I hope happens with it going forward.

If you've listened to any of the episodes that I've released so far, you know straight off the bat that it's very different from podcasts in the maker community, and that's by design. I want to make it clear: this is not me saying "maker" podcasts are bad. I listen to a few and the ones I listen to I really enjoy, but I was very conscious in creating Because We Make of the fact that maker podcasts don't really dig into the people behind the making. They tend to be very "thing" and "process" heavy. I didn't want this to be this way. Because We Make is an exploration of why we do the creative things we do. It's not about what you make it's about why you make it. Who you are. What are your ambitions. Why did you start doing it. What do you get out of it. I've been very fortunate to have had very few rejections in asking people to be on the podcast, and we've had some amazing conversations. I'm lucky enough to have very interesting friends who are willing to open up and just talk about this community we're all a part of and as things go on my hope is that I'll be able to deep dive with even more people you know and love from the creative spaces. I have the next two weeks of episodes already lined up, and I'm really looking forward to bringing them to you! If you hit up the link for the podcast you can see the platforms it's available on.
